Latvia for the first time participated in the world exhibition of arms and military equipment IDEX 2015 in the United Arab Emirates. IDEX 2015 – prestigious venue, which demonstrates the latest advances in the production of arms and military equipment. Our country was represented in Abu Dhabi by one of the oldest companies in Latvia – Riga Shipyard. The proposed shipyard services – construction of vessels for military and civil purposes, and outfitting of ships – aroused great interest among the participants. A separate meeting was held with the commander of the United Arab Emirate Navy, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan.

“The goal of our participation in the exhibition – demonstration of new capabilities of the Riga Shipyard and, of course, the search for potential customers. Riga Shipyard is constantly evolving, developing new products, including the military – in particular, building modern patrol vessels. I want tonote that in the winter season, Riga Shipyard worked in full capacity, repairing ships and carrying out orders for newbuilding projects, “- says the Chairman of the Council of JSC Rigas kugu buvetava Vasiliy Melnik. He thanked Latvias chargé d’affaires in United Arab Emirates for moral support durring the exhibition.

The representatives of Riga Shipyard noted that the exhibition in Abu Dhabi allowed to establish contacts with potential partners in the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa and Southeast Asia. At the moment, there is a processing of received information and preparation of proposals on future contracts.

The international exhibition in Abu Dhabi was attended by more than 1,176 companies from 59 countries! The exhibition, which takes place every two years, was attended by over 80,000 people!
